Cerasuolo Di Vittoria DOCG
Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG is the only wine with Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin in Sicily. Born from the “harmonious blend of Nero d” Avola and Frappato, it offers a bright ruby color with cherry reflections, aromas of red fruits, flowers, and spices.
Vittoria: the City where Vines are History
Founded in 1607 by noblewoman Vittoria Colonna Enriquez, the city of Vittoria was born already surrounded by vineyards. With foresight, the founder gave colonists plots of land with the condition that they be cultivated with vines, giving momentum to a viticulture destined to become a symbol of the territory. In reality, the origins of wine in this area are even more ancient: from the Greeks to the Romans, passing through the port of Kamarina, wine traveled across the Mediterranean conquering markets like Malta and Carthage. This millennial heritage lives on today in Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG, unique in Sicily, an authentic expression of a deep connection between land, history, and passion.
Where Nature Sculpts Wine
The vineyards of Cerasuolo di Vittoria extend across gentle hills and sun-kissed plains, caressed by winds that carry the scent of the Mediterranean.
Here the vines sink their roots into soils rich in minerals and history, finding the perfect balance between warmth and freshness.
Each grape cluster ripens slowly, developing intense and complex aromas, ready to transform into a wine that captivates with elegance.
A Territory that Reinvented Itself
Between the 19th and 20th centuries, Vittoria's viticulture went through difficult times: pathogens like downy mildew and the phylloxera of 1886 devastated the vineyards, while commercial tensions with France drastically reduced exports. But the territory did not give up. Thanks to scientific research, government nurseries were established and new grafting techniques with resistant American vines spread. In the post-war period, producers understood that the future lay in quality and bottling, abandoning blending red wine to respond to new consumer tastes. From this conscious rebirth came Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG, a symbol of today's Sicilian wine excellence.
